18 Month Old

Our little Natey-Bug is 18 months old today. We are so lucky to have this little dude in our lives.

So I don't forget, since I am not the best at updating his baby book:

-- Nate can tell you that he is one by holding up one finger
-- Nate will point to his nose when you ask him "where do boogers live?"
-- Nate has "phantom bink" syndrome where he tries to take a non-existent binky out of his mouth
-- He presses his face up against the sliding glass door and the windows in the living room and "kisses" the glass
-- He hugs the dogs (the dogs tolerate the hugging)
-- He dances when he hears music
-- He is developing his own sense of humor
-- He says mom, dad, dog, duck, umbrella, and cup consistently and busts out a slew of other words when he feels like it.
-- He loves to play with his kitchen and his farm
-- He likes to watch Oswald the Octopus and Caillou

Everyday there is something new!

The Sunshine of My Life

Nate and His Water Table

The other day it was hot, hot, hot. My mom decided that instead of standing and playing with the water in his water table, Nate should sit in the water instead. He LOVED it!

I shot this with my iphone 3GS (how cool is that!) so it's not the greatest resolution.

Climbing & Watching

Nate has discovered that he can climb onto various pieces of furniture. Today he climbed on to the couch and sat and watched an entire episode of Oswald (the Octopus). I have never seen this child sit still for 30 minutes in a row except when he is asleep!

Farmer Nate (or Nate in Great Grandpa's Garden)

My parents and I took Nate to see my grandparents today. He had a lot of fun in my grandfather's garden... hum, maybe organic gardening is in his future?

Playing with Sushi

I caught Nate playing with his Melissa & Doug wooden sushi for 15 minutes straight. He was so intent I had to take pictures.

I Picked This One Just for You

16 Months

Nate went for his 15 month check up today even though he is actually 16 months old. He is now 30" tall, or 2'6" as the nurse put it and 24 pounds. I could have told you that he got taller because now he can reach things he couldn't reach before.

He got one shot, his first MMR shot, and in true Nate style did not cry but gave the nurse a dirty look.

The seats in the carts at this target recline at a crazy angle and are not very comfortable (or they don't seem very comfortable. So, I put Nate in the cart and he LOVED it!

Second Conversation

Nate really doesn't talk much. He is EXTREMELY verbal, but he doesn't actually used a lot of ... words. So it is kind of a big deal when he does use words, that I can understand, like he did yesterday.

Nate and I were reading a book when we came to the end. "All done" I said to him.

He picked up his cup, finished what was inside and held it up to me. "All done" he said.

"Do you want some more?" I asked.

"More" Nate replied.

"More?" I asked again, excited because, dude, this is our second conversation.

"More" Nate replied.

"More?" I asked for a third time because he actually just said a word more than once, something he NEVER does...

"Yeah" Nate replied. With a look on his face that said "woman, I just told you that two time now would you quit asking me if I want more and make with the juice!"

Easter Outfit

than he was about getting his picture taken!

Nate's First Juice Box

Today Nate had his first successful encounter with a juice box... he figured out what to do with the straw and everything. Don't worry, I didn't let him drink the whole thing!

Hide & Seek or Let the Games Begin!

Nate has started playing games.  He goes into the closet in our bedroom, closes the door then opens it up and peaks out.  Not quite Hide & Seek yet, but its a start.

First Conversation

Yesterday Nate and I were playing in the family room when he decided it would be fun to grab Beo's tail. Beo has a verysensitive tail so I said to Nate, "No, no Nate. Not the puppy's tail."

Nate looked at me and said, "Yeah, Yeah, tail."

I said again (giggling, because... Dude! that was a sentence!!!) "No, Nate, not the puppy's tail."

He looked at me and said, "Tail... YEAH!"

And then walked away. :)

Nate's New Shoes

Today we went and bought Nate his first pair of REAL shoes. Not an hour later they were already dirty from playing in the yard!

Playing Outside

It's still too cold to stay out for long, but it is arm enough to o a little playing outside. I think this is the first time Nate ever walked on grass!
