Thanksgiving 2012

I was not really in a position to take many photos on Thanksgiving day, what with the cooking and cleaning up and all.  Jon did manage to get two shots of Nate... hanging on to the leg of his Uncle Andrew... hysterical!

Halloween 2012

If you have been reading this blog for a while you know that Nate is not a fan of Halloween.  Unlike, me, who loves dressing up in costume, my kid is not a costume kid.  He does not play dress up, it is not his thing.  So this year we tried a different tactic... Peer Pressure.

We took Nate over to a friend's house where there would be lots of kids in costume.  It worked!  Not only did he put the costume on, he went trick or treating too.  About halfway through the night he proclaimed to Jon, "Daddy, this really is a lot of fun!"

Catching Up -- Part 2

Nate and I took a trip to see my best friend in July.  She has a pool which was a huge deal to Nate.  Although it rained a lot of our trip we still had a good time... right up until Nate puked on me while we were in the pool... good thing we were among friends.

Catching Up -- Part 1

So I was completely MIA for something like 3 months... it was wonderful to have that break, but I am back now.  Nate had a great summer.  We went on two vacations, he went to camp, played with friend, swam, it was all good.

Please Touch Museum

On Monday my friend Amy came down with her two boys and the whole lot of us went to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.  The boys had a blast, and although I am completely skeeved out by the concept of everything being touch by everybody, it was fun to watch the boys having fun.

 

 

 

 

Strawberry Picking

Nate and I went strawberry picking with some friends recently.  Nate was a master picker, even picking berries for other people.  We picked six plus pounds which I turned into delicious jam!

Lonngwood Gardens

On Monday my mom and I took Nate to Longwood Gardens for the first time.  In recent years they have done a lot to make the gardens really child-friendly and Nate had a great time.  Their newly renovated Children's Garden has a ton of water feature and fountains that kids can play in, which is right up Nate's alley.

Baby Dust

In the car the other day Nate was enthusiastically talking about his room at mom-mom's house.  He was describing it in detail and telling me all about the toys in his room, and the bed in his room, and the books in his room.  Then he got to the closet.

The closet in Nate's room at mom-mom's house is HUGE.  I could, in fact, be another room for Nate to play in.  He was telling me about what was in it and how it was organized, and then he says, "and mommy it smells really good too."  I said, "Oh?  What does it smell like?"  and Nate replies, "It smells like baby dust...good!"

I figured baby dust = baby power, but in fact that closet smells like lavender, so in Nate's mind lavender = baby dust.  I love it!

The other day Nate was drinking a yogurt smoothie and had managed to get a yogurt mustache, if you will.  He turned to me and in a very deep voice said, "Hi Mommy!"  He continued, "I'm talking like a man because I have a mustache!"
