Salt Dough Ornaments

Nate and I had some more fun with salt dough the other day.  I made two batches and Nate spent 2 plus hours using our Star Wars and Avengers cookie cutters to make ornaments.  I put the holes in them and baked them.  When they were cool Nate painted them and now they are on our big tree and the little tree in his room.

Nate and Nana

SS Fisher

So, if you don't know, Home Depot has free kids workshops on the first Saturday of every month.  You sign up in their website and then go to your local store and you kid can build whatever the project is that month for free.  We took Nate in August and he made a pick up truck.  This month is was a boat, so we decided that this was the prefect project for Pop to help out with.

Pop and Nate hammered and painted and in the end, the SS Fisher** was born.

**When we sat down Nate realized that the kid next to him was in his class at school.  They said hi and then Nate introduced his friend to Pop.  He said, "This is my pop.  He's a fisher [man]."

Watch and Learn

Yesterday while playing with Legos, I picked up a couple of bricks and was trying to put them together as the picture instructed me to do.  Apparently I looked like I was having a hard time with this task as Nate took the Legos from my hand and said "Mommy, you don't do Legos as much as I do... watch and learn."

Woah boy are we in trouble!

A Note for Daddy

Nate wrote this on his own.  I helped him with the spelling of the words, but he did all the writing.  This is a huge leap forward for the little boy who refused to do any writing over the summer!

"Like we did a dinosaur puzzle and a city puzzle."

Catching up -- July and August

I have been completely MIA as far as blogging is concerned, and although I am a little sorry, I'm not a lot sorry.  I was doing rather than blogging, so sue me.

Anyway, Nate has been quite the bust boy.  He attended a Super Hero camp that he loved, and a Clay camp that he also loved.

In between camps Nate lounged in the pool

Discovered a new park with a playground and old trains to explore.

Went and saw Turbo (which as adorable)

Celebrate Shark Week with a donut

Had a ridiculously oversize lunch with friends

And finally, went to Lancaster and a train museum

My little Ham

All of a sudden Nate wants his picture taken... everywhere we go.  Literally everywhere!  "Mommy, don;t you want to take my picture?"  "Umm... at the gas station?  Not really, but ok."  He's cute so I indulge him in this (and many other things but that is a different post).  So here are 2 recent pics of Nate outside of Bertucci's and Menchies.

Vincent Van D'oh!

Nate informed me that this was a picture of me.  I asked if the round part was "my big round butt" (as he is fond of saying) but he said no, it was my belly with a baby in it.  I asked what all the squiggly line were and he said, incredulous that I didn't know already, that it was the umbilical cord.  That's my boy!

From the Mouth of Nate

  • "Mommy, I love the smell of hot dogs sooo much... I'm going to eat one, and then eat another one!"
  • Upon discovering that a 6 year molar is starting to break through "Mommom!  I have a little baby molder growing!"  (which begs the question, will Molder be bringing Scully with him?)
  • Looking at a picture of a sea turtle's tail as she lays her eggs , "What is that? The pooper?"

The Zamboni Ride

Pretty much every hockey fan I know want to ride on the zamboni, but apparently, not very many people get to do this.  Well, lucky Nate got to take a ride on the zamboni this weekend.  He was asked and I enthusically answered for him "Yes, of course he wants to!"  The look on his fact is a mixture of excitement and mortal terror... as it should be.

Sorry for the terrible and obvious editing... I don't want anyone to get in trouble.

Last Day of Preschool

Today was Nate's last day of preschool.  The kids put on a patriotic show for the parents.  It was very cute.  Closing the show with Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" was a dirty trick if you ask me... very few eyes were dry.
