Here Fishy Fishy Fishy
Today, we took Nate to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ to meet our friends Amy and Marc and their two son's Seth and Zach. I did not really think that nate was going to get a whole lot out of this particular trip but he does enjoy watching the world around him from his stroller so we forged ahead. At one point he was getting fussy, so Jon took him out of his stroller and held him up to a tank with fish from a coral reef. He pressed his little hands to the plexiglass and watched each brightly colored fsh as it swam by... it was very cute.

6 Month Update
Nate had his 6 month check up today (even thought he is almost 7 months old). He is meeting all of his developmental milestones which is good and weighed in at 15 pounds and 26 inches long.
Nate has consistently been in the 10th percentile on the height/eight charts which I could care less about. As long as he is growing who cares what percentile he is in. As Dr. Bullock said today... "He isn't going to be the tallest kid in the class" but with parents who are 5'3" and 5'4" he never really had an hopes of being tall anyway.

To Catch a (Canine) Thief
Ok, many of you know what its like having a dog in a house with a baby. Baby things are typically new found dog toys. Introduce Beo, Nate's big puppy.
So Beo has been stealing Nate's stuff for a while now. He loves pacifiers. Typically he'll find one, pick it up and come up to us all wiggly and overly lovey-dovey. That's our cue to find he has something he shouldn't in his mouth. A quick "Beo drop it" and the little green prize bounces, sloberly, on the floor.
Sometimes we get a lucky break in the case. Instead of the usual "Snatch & Grab" job, Beo has to show more cunning in executing his caper. Maybe he has but seconds to grab it before being detected or must execute an extended tongue-reach given remote placement. The master thief grabs it delicately by the smallest of edges and runs.
When he's gingerly in retrieving the goods, it usually presents the cutest site. And for once daddy's camera was handy to document the perfect crime. Below is an un-retouched photo; no editing was done. This was not staged. This is what it looks like when you catch a thief:

How cute is that???
Note: Nate's other puppy Jax is much better mannered and does not steal his stuff. Thank you Jax!

Momsicle
It has been so HOT lately that I thought Nate deserved a frosty treat... a momsicle. For those of you who don't know, a momsicle is a popsicle made out of frozen breast milk. Nate wanted it and didn't want it all at the same time. I am sure it tasted good to him but he was unsure about the temperature. In the end, I think he liked it and even tried holding it himself.

Well, maybe one more try...

Ok,maybe this isn't so bad when I can do it myself!

5 1/2 Months of Nate
At Nate's last doctor's appointment our little man weighed in at 14 pounds and 25.5 inches long. Wow! He hit all of his 5 month milestones and is otherwise in great shape.
He has expanded his palate beyond rice cereal and breast milk to include apples, pears, peaches, oatmeal, barley, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes and butternut squash. He LOVES them all. In fact he hasn't found a food he doesn't like.
He has also started to play peek-a-boo. When someone ducks behind something and then pops out and says "Peek-a-boo!" Nate ducks down and pops back up at the same time. He doesn't actually say "peek-a-boo" but he giggles hysterically.
It is so amazing to see this little guy acquire all of these new skills.
Here are a few pics of Nate at 5.5 months:
